Clear Lake Area Collection

Clear Lake Area 1960s brochureThe Clear Lake Area Collection contains archival materials documenting the social, cultural, political, environmental, and economic aspects of the regional history and development of the greater Clear Lake Area of coastal Houston, Texas.

For collecting purposes, the UHCL Archives defines the Clear Lake Area as the bayside region in parts of Harris and Galveston County in southeast Texas, including the following cities and towns: Clear Lake City, Clear Lake Shores, Webster, Kemah, League City, Nassau Bay, Seabrook, Taylor Lake Village, and parts of Houston and Pasadena that touch on the University’s service areas.

The Clear Lake Area Collection includes donations from local businesses, organizations, neighborhood groups, and current and former residents who have contributed to the local history and development of these communities. Materials in this collection include original historical materials from city and neighborhood organizations and businesses. Some of its largest holdings include records from the Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership, the League of Women Voters of Bay Area, and the Clear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce. UHCL Archives’ holdings represent one of the largest group of original materials in the state of Texas that document the Clear Lake Area.
