PPOHA – Exploring Careers in Teaching (EXCITE) MAT and EDCI Graduate Assistantship
PPOHA EXCITE Graduate Assistants in the College of Education gain professional expertise and opportunities offered by UHCL faculty in their field. Graduate assistants in this program apply theories learned in the classroom to real world situations and build experience for a successful career in education. As a graduate assistant, you’ll become an educator turning possibilities into realities by participating in teaching, research and service projects under faculty mentoring and guidance.
For students eligible under the Department of Education: Promoting Postbaccalaureate Opportunities for Hispanic Americans(PPOHA) grant and enrolled in UHCL's Master of Arts in Teaching(MAT) or Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction(EDCI) programs, graduate assistantships are available during the year-long academic period from September to August.
EXCITE Graduate Assistantships include:
- Teaching, research and service assignments under guidance of faculty
- Average of 20 hours/week
- Up to $1,300/month (not benefits qualified)
