Minor in Exercise Science

Exercise Science – Where the Gym Meets the Classroom

Do you love your personal fitness tracker? Do you volunteer to coach youth sports in your spare time? Do you believe in encouraging others to pursue athletic excellence as a way to improve your long-term health? Then we’d encourage you to obtain a minor in Exercise Science from the University of Houston – Clear Lake! Your studies will have you investigating topics ranging from physiology and physical fitness standards to nutrition, sports medicine and beyond

Calling All Future Gym Teachers, Personal Trainers and Sports Scientists

Your education will benefit from your time in the UHCL Exercise and Health Sciences program. Your committed teachers possess real-world experience as strength and conditioning coaches, researchers and exercise scientists. This 15-hour minor will serve you well in a variety of health-related fields, as well as laying a sturdy foundation for a master’s degree or Ph.D.

Accreditations and Distinctions

The College of Human Sciences and Humanities holds a number of specialized accreditations, including accreditations and approval from the Commission of Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education; the Association for Behavior Analysis International; the National Association of School Psychologists. The Council on Social Work Education has also accredited our bachelor’s degree in social work. Our Fitness and Human Performance curriculum has been recognized by the National Strength and Conditioning Association for preparing students to successfully enter into the career field.
