You’ll also have access to current software and hardware in the communication industry. With the ability to effectively communicate, you can contribute to productivity, build trusting relationships and overcome challenges. This is why employers from across all industries consistently rank “communication skills” as one of the most sought qualities in prospective employees.

Your Window to the Media

To earn UHCL’s Minor in Communication, you must complete a minimum of 15 hours in the field, with Mass Media and Society as the only required course. This course gives you the opportunity to explore the interaction between mass media, society and culture. It’s designed to help you understand diverse viewpoints as you evaluate the symbiotic relationship between media and audience. You will also examine the many technology advancements in mass communications and their effects on society. The remaining 12 credit hours can be tailored to concentrate on COMM courses that are most relevant to your future career. More than five courses are available online, giving you the option to complete the entire minor (five courses) from the comfort of home while maintaining your work-family-life balance.
