Disabled Parking

Accessible Parking Overview

University of Houston-Clear Lake provides accessible parking spaces for use by disabled individuals in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA). These spaces are available to eligible students, faculty/staff, and visitors. This policy provides the guidelines governing the use of these parking spaces and the issuance of accessible parking permits to eligible students and faculty/staff.

Faculty, Staff and Students

Designated accessible parking spaces in surface lots are for the exclusive use of vehicles displaying county-issued International Symbol of Access (ISA)-disabled hangtags or ISA-disabled license plates. Individuals who park in accessible spaces must have an active University of Houston–Clear Lake parking permit AND display their county-issued ISA-disabled hangtag (or ISA-disabled license plate affixed in the designated location on the vehicle). The ISA county-issued disabled hangtag must be hanging on the rearview mirror.

University of Houston-Clear Lake is committed to ensuring accessible parking for all visitors. Designated accessible parking spaces are available across campus for visitors displaying valid International Symbol of Access (ISA) disabled placards or license plates. Visitors who park in accessible spaces in visitor spaces must have an active University of Houston–Clear Lake visitor pass AND display their county-issued ISA-disabled hangtag (or ISA-disabled license plate affixed in the designated location on the vehicle). The ISA county-issued disabled hangtag must be hanging on the rearview mirror.

Location and Guidelines:

Visitors using accessible parking must display a valid ISA disabled placard or disabled license plate issued by the county or state on their vehicle.
Parking permits or visitor passes are required for visitors using accessible parking spaces, provided that the vehicle has the appropriate ISA placard or plate.

Circle Drive (Bayou Building):

Visitors needing accessible parking can also use the Circle Drive at the Bayou Building. These spaces are reserved for those with valid disabled placards or plates.

DV Plates

Disabled veterans with DV plates can park in student parking lots without a UHCL permit. To park in handicapped spaces, disabled veterans with DV plates are still required to have an ISA county-issued disabled hangtag.
