Biography
Emily Fessler, Ph.D., LMFTS is an associate professor in the Marriage and Family Therapy
M.A. program. She is a licensed marriage and family therapist and an American Association
of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) Clinical Fellow and Supervisor. She received
her doctorate in human development and family studies (HDFS) from Auburn University,
where she also completed a M.S. in marriage and family therapy and a M.S. in HDFS,
after receiving a B.S. from Texas Tech University in HDFS. Dr. Fessler's research
interests include sexuality and sex therapy, risky sexual behavior, body image and
body (dis)satisfaction, and adolescent development.
Dr. Fessler is the principal investigator of the Human Connections research lab where
she collaborates with current and former students and colleagues around the globe.
This collaboration has led to many presentations and publications on topics ranging
from body image, infidelity in a social media space, parenting behaviors, and others.
