Here, we come together as a community to seize emerging opportunities – listening, learning and responding to the most pressing needs of our region. Whether it is studying the effects of a natural disaster on marine life in Galveston Bay, responding to a growing cyber security crisis or designing robots for new workplace applications, UH-Clear Lake is community-minded and partnership-oriented in its service to the region.
New opportunities arise at UHCL at each stage in our evolution. One example is our transition to a comprehensive, four year university in 2014. With the addition of freshmen came the need for freshmen scholarships. Many generous alumni and friends responded to the call, establishing Hawk Advantage Endowed Scholarships to provide additional assistance to freshmen with unmet need.
Adding new degree programs to answer regional workforce needs is another example. In 2014, UHCL added an RN to BSN completion program to meet the growing imperative for nurses with bachelor’s degrees. A new mechanical engineering program begins in fall 2018 to better serve the region’s need for graduates in this field.
With the investment of the committed UHCL community, we will forge emerging opportunities into real world solutions.
