UHCL COVID-19 Reporting Process
If any member of our campus community (i.e. faculty, staff, or student) at any time receives a positive COVID test, they are required to report it through the COVID-19 Reporting Diagnosis Form and begin isolating immediately. Staff should also notify their supervisor, and faculty should also notify their department chair.
Report a positive case using the COVID-19 Reporting Diagnosis Form. The individual reporting a positive COVID test will receive an email with further instructions. If applicable, the positive case will be contacted by UHCL contact tracers.
Faculty instructors will not be explicitly notified by UHCL Contact Tracing if a student in their classroom reports a positive COVID test, unless the instructor is specifically identified as a close contact based on the criteria listed on the UHCL Potential Exposure to COVID-19 webpage.
If a student informs a faculty instructor that they have tested positive for COVID, the student will be directed to report through the COVID-19 Reporting Diagnosis Form noted above. Faculty instructors will not share this personal information with rest of the class. This information will be communicated by UHCL Contact Tracing to those identified as close contacts.
Please be aware that if you are exposed or potentially exposed, UHCL COVID protocols are slightly different depending on whether or not you are currently fully vaccinated (see Potential Exposure flow chart).
All persons in isolation or quarantine will be required to complete the Request to Return to Campus form before returning to UHCL campus.
