Dear Bimodal Students:
UHCL understands the Fall 2020 semester's start represents an extraordinary time of challenges and opportunities for our new and returning students. Both President Blake and Chancellor Khator have stated in emails this past week that students who feel vulnerable at any time during fall semester need the flexibility to learn in a different modality.
Faculty at UHCL teaching bimodal courses have prepared to provide that flexibility for students who are not able to come to campus for face-to-face (F2F) sessions.
Any student taking a bimodal class who wishes to take that course remotely, should email the faculty member teaching the course. They will inform you of how you can complete the in-person classes remotely. It is essential to note you will remain enrolled in the bimodal course but will be engaging with the content, your peers, and your instructor remotely. Your faculty will share the expectations for successful online engagement (ex: synchronous, asynchronous, etc.).
You may make this request at any time in the semester. Should you desire to return to attending in-person classes, you need to inform your faculty member. Please note, there may be a time in the semester, when your faculty member needs adjust the schedule of courses and F2F sessions and communicate these updates with you. Remember to routinely check your UHCL email and log on to BlackBoard for each of your courses frequently.
We’re going to have a great semester! If you have questions, please reach out to your faculty or your academic advisor.
Sincerely,
Steven J. Berberich, Ph.D.
