The Diplomacy Institute at University of Houston-Clear Lake is presenting a Diplomatic Lecture Series, featuring French Attache for Science and Technology Renaud Segneuric, and Australian Consul General to Houston Benson Saulo. Their lectures, to be held April 12 and 13 in the Student Services and Classroom Building, are part of the Diplomacy Institute's mission to provide exposure to diverse perspectives in international affairs to the university community.
Continuing a partnership formalized last summer, Qatar Charity and the Diplomacy Institute at the University of Houston-Clear Lake launched a food distribution effort December 14 at Lone Star College-Houston North Campus. The event was attended by Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, Lone Star College-Houston North President Quentin Wright, and UH-Clear Lake Interim President Richard Walker.
The mural Cultural Bonds by Qatari artist Muna Al-Bader is the result of a partnership between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, Qatar Museums, the Diplomacy Institute of University of Houston-Clear Lake, and Public Art UHS. It was commissioned in celebration of the Qatar-USA 2021 Year of Culture and, fittingly, it commemorates the fiftieth anniversary of cultural ties between the two countries.
Over 800 food-insecure families in northeast Houston enjoyed a hot Thanksgiving meal delivered right to their front door. Meals were delivered by Target Hunger and more than 125 volunteers. The meals will be provided by a grant from the Embassy of the State of Qatar, with additional financial support provided by numerous individual donors. Volunteers included board members, college students, families, and corporate and community groups including staff from UHCL's Diplomacy Institute.
The University of Houston-Clear Lake celebrated International Education Week between Nov. 16-20, to spotlight the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. As part of International Education Week, UH-Clear Lake's newly-founded Diplomacy Institute (DI) celebrated by hosting events including a guest lecture from Vice Dean of the Houston Consular Corps Mr. Charles Foster and launching its first open house to the public.

The groundbreaking partnership between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar and the University of Houston-Clear Lake was formalized in a signing ceremony held July 29 in the university's Bayou Theater. The initiation of the new Diplomacy Institute was attended by dignitaries from the Consulate of Qatar in Houston, the University of Houston System, and the City of Houston.
