Mind, Body, and Soul Scholarship

  • Eligibility: High school senior. Current U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident. Consciously tries to live a balanced lifestyle.
  • To Apply: Applicants must submit short essay (400-600 words) answering the following prompts: What about college excites you the most? How do you maintain a healthy mind, body, and soul amidst the challenges you face in school?

Business Majors

ABPW/Rosemary Pledger

  • Eligibility: Any degree in the UHCL College of Business. Must be female interested in pursuing a career in Business and/or Public Administration.  Must be a US citizen or permanent resident, as well as a Texas resident.
  • GPA: Minimum 2.5
  • Status: Undergraduate enrolled in at least 6 hours / Graduate enrolled in at least 5 hours. Preference given to women reentering the workforce and have demonstrated leadership qualities.
  • Additional Documentation: One-page description of your academic and career goals and how this scholarship would be of financial assistance to you

Lightfoot/Johns Family

  • Major: Accounting
  • GPA: No specific requirement but will be a factor
  • Status: Undergraduate minimum 6 hours enrollment or Graduate minimum 5 hours enrollment. Preference given to single parents with custody of children living at home
  • Financial Need: Will be a factor (you will be required to submit a FAFSA at by the UHCL priority deadline of March 15)
  • Additional Documentation: Brief paragraph about your children

  • Eligibility:
    • Any undergraduate or graduate college student currently enrolled in a healthcare degree program may apply
    • Proof of enrollment in a qualifying degree program may be required for eligibility

Creative Biolabs Scholarship Program

  • Eligibility:
    • Enrolled as a freshman, undergraduate, graduate, or Ph.D. student at an accredited college or university.
    • Major in a science-related field such as Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, and Molecular Biology.
    • Applicant must possess a GPA (grade point average) of 3.0 or higher.
  • To Apply: Applicants must complete the 800 to 1000-word essay or PowerPoint of 10-12 pages
  • Amount: $1000

Addictions.com Fall 2022 Scholarship Contest 

  • Eligibility: Must be currently enrolled or planning to attend in Spring 2023. If currently attending the student must not be on academic probation
  • To Apply: Applicants must submit a 500-700 word essay about: How does substance abuse and addiction affect society today? What can we do to reduce the negative effects of addiction, help people access treatment resources, and decrease the burden of addiction on society?   • Amount: 1st place: $2500; 2nd place: $1500; 3rd place: $1000; 4th place: $500; 5th place: $250

Brown Trial Firm Scholarship Essay Contest

  • Eligibility: Candidates must be a U.S. resident or resident alien who is currently enrolled in classes with a valid student ID at a U.S College or University. Essays must be unique (not submitted elsewhere) and written by the scholarship application signator.
  • To Apply: Applicants must read, understand, sign and return to us the (PDF) Scholarship Essay Contest Application & Rules along with your submission. Only one submission per student will be considered. All entries must be submitted in English. To enter the scholarship essay competition, answer the following question in 300-500 words: "How have advancements in medicine led to a decline in birth injuries?"

  • Eligibility: Be a high school senior or graduate, or current college undergraduate or graduate student. Be a US Citizen or Permanent Legal Resident. Proof of acceptance to his or her college or university or a college transcript.

  • Eligibility: Self-identify as female. Be a high school senior or graduate, or current college undergraduate or graduate student. Women Professionals in Government

2022 Fall Scholarship Application

The $1,500 WPG Scholarship is awarded twice a year (Spring and Fall) to female residents of the Greater Houston area who are students in good standing at an accredited university. The scholarship winners also receive a one-year membership to Women Professionals in Government.  Applicants must be pursuing studies to further a career in public service. Graduate applicants must have completed at least 12 graduate hours. Undergraduate applicants must have completed at least 30 undergraduate hours. Additionally, applicants are required to submit one essay that describes their career goals, details the challenges they have faced in achieving educational and professional goals, and discusses how they have overcome these challenges. The winners are selected based on their academic history, community involvement, and public service-related employment. 

WPG's 2022 Fall Scholarship Application deadline is November 1, 2022.
