  • Responsibilities

    Student Lab Assistants provide the first point of contact for students seeking technical assistance with computing, printing, and network issues. Lab assistants must be able to work the assigned schedule, exhibit exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills, and move equipment weighing approximately 25 pounds.

    Familiarity in the software applications available in the lab and knowledge of computer hardware, printers, and scanners are also required. Lab assistants monitor lab activities and maintain a clean, secure, quiet academic environment. Lab Assistants perform maintenance, troubleshoot printer problems and demonstrate the use of scanners.

  • Qualifications or Preferences
    •  - Must be a student and have good communication skills in English.

    •  - Basic knowledge of commonly used operating systems, PC desktop/laptop hardware and peripheral devices (e.g., scanners, printers, etc.).

    •  - Ability to resolve simple hardware, software, and network connectivity issues on lab computers using common PC and network troubleshooting tools.

    •  - Familiarity with campus computing systems Blackboard and web content.

    •  - Friendly presence and helpful attitude; ability to work well with others.

    •  - Resourceful at managing changing workload; patient, courteous and professional in stressful situations.

    •  - Be able to work a minimum of 8 hours and a maximum of 20 hours per week including days, evenings, and weekends.
