- SSC: Software Engineering Tutor

The Student Success Center is looking for a skilled Software Engineering student to join our tutorial staff this Fall. The ideal candidate would have high levels of understanding of all the competencies that are related to Software Engineering. Depending on student demand, you can work up to 20 hours per week. Excellent communication skills are required. With acceptable performance, this position would be applicable to continue to the next semester.
The primary responsibility of student tutors is to work with UHCL students on developing subject area skills and competencies that the student or tutor have identified as weak or in need of improvement. This will be accomplished through review of student’s graded work, notes, texts, syllabi, collaboration with other student services, and guided practice under supervision of the student tutor.
Tutors are also expected to be patient, attentive, and respectful of student needs, while refraining from outside distractions during a tutoring session (cell phones, outside visitors, etc.).
Tutors are also responsible for attending training sessions at the beginning of every semester, and updating Student Success Center professional staff of any schedule changes as soon as possible.
Qualifications or Preferences:
- Completed at least 2 semesters at UHCL.
- Have at least a 3.5 Overall GPA
- Have 2 Faculty References
- Completed the following UHCL courses:
- Software Processes
- Software Construction
- Software Architecture
- Software Project Management
- Software Engineering Life Cycle
