  • Responsibilities

    The Student Success Center is looking for a skilled Computer Engineering student to join our tutorial staff this Fall. The ideal candidate would have high levels of understanding of all the competencies that are related to Computer Engineering. Depending on student demand, you can work up to 20 hours per week. Excellent communication skills are required. With acceptable performance, this position would be applicable to continue to the next semester.

    The primary responsibility of student tutors is to work with UHCL students on developing subject area skills and competencies that the student or tutor have identified as weak or in need of improvement. This will be accomplished through review of student’s graded work, notes, texts, syllabi, collaboration with other student services, and guided practice under supervision of the student tutor.

    Tutors are also expected to be patient, attentive, and respectful of student needs, while refraining from outside distractions during a tutoring session (cell phones, outside visitors, etc.).

    Tutors are also responsible for attending training sessions at the beginning of every semester, and updating Student Success Center professional staff of any schedule changes as soon as possible.

  • Qualifications or Preferences
    • - Completed at least 2 semesters at UHCL
    • - 3.5 overall GPA
    • - 2 Faculty References

    Students who do not meet the outlined qualifications will not be considered for this position.

- I'm enrolled for at least 9 hours as an undergraduate OR at least 6 hours as a graduate.
