The Martin Luther King Jr. Day is the only federal holiday observed as a national day of service. It is considered a "day on, not a day off."
The Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) Day of Service is a way to transform Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s life and teachings into community action.
Students, faculty, and staff are invited to join Student Leadership, Involvement, and Community Engagement, and the Office of Student Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion on Monday, January 15 as we host our first Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service event.
Hurricane Harvey had a significant impact all along Buffalo Bayou. Participants can expect to pick up trash and debris, weed, mulch, and shovel silt that Harvey left behind. After the project we will have lunch and reflect on Dr. King’s legacy.
