1/17: University of Houston-Clear Lake and its off-site locations will be open on Thursday, Jan. 18. During inclement weather, university officials monitor local conditions and post announcements regarding closure of the university on the UHCL Emergency Information website as well as the UHCL Hotline (281-283-2221).

Membership Services

Campus Recreation members benefit from a variety of services and programming. Students taking one or more semester hours at automatically become Campus Recreation members when they register and pay all student fees. Membership are also available for faculty, staff, university retirees and alumni. 

The new Campus Recreation and Wellness Center is under construction!  Current Fitness Room memberships will not be valid for the new facility or its programming. The new membership rates, policies, and process for the new facility will be posted when available.

Fitness Room Membership

All current Fitness Room memberships will end 

  • when the construction project for the new Campus Recreation and Wellness Center is completed, or
  • the Fitness Room is closed, or
  • by August 13, 2018.
  General Membership Policies
 
  • Prior to a first workout, all participants must complete the following:
     - Fitness Room Membership (423 KB, pdf)
     - PAR-Q Form (415 KB, pdf) 
     - Waiver (40 KB, pdf)
  • All memberships are non-transferable.
  • A membership may be suspended or terminated if a member gives their UHCL ID card to another individual for entrance to Fitness Room or for violation of Campus Recreation policies. 
  • If Campus Recreation discontinues a membership, prepayments for unexpired time will not be refunded.

Eligibility

  • All fee paying UHCL students are automatic members of the Department of Campus Recreation and Wellness.
  • Students must get a semester verification sticker from Student Life prior to their first visit to the Fitness Room. 
  • Students not taking summer classes but who enrolled the previous spring and are registered for the preceding fall semester are eligible to use the fitness room with a spring validation sticker on their ID.
  • Students who enroll in classes but withdraw from UHCL are not eligible to participate in any Campus Recreation services including all facilities.

Membership Cost

$35 per semester, or
$90 per year (Aug. 14 2017 - Aug. 13, 2018)

Eligibility

All interested faculty and staff members of UHCL are allowed to purchase a membership for Campus Recreation and Wellness.

Requirements

  • Membership fee paid by cash, check or payroll deductions. No refunds.
  • Payroll deduction deadlines for the 2017-2018 academic year are:
     - Annual or Fall semester membership: September 15, 2017
     - Spring semester membership: February 9, 2018.
     - Summer semester membership: May 25, 2018.
  • Membership paperwork and payment must be physically delivered in-person to the Student Life, SSCB 1.204 during normal operating hours.
  Faculty and Staff Family Members
 

Membership Cost

$65 per semester, and a one-time $10 administration fee

Eligibility

Spouse or adult over 16 years of age, living in the same household as a current faculty/staff Campus Recreation member.

Requirements

  • The sponsoring Campus Recreation family member must appear in-person in Student Life, SSCB 1204, to verify their agreement to sponsor, provide payment, and sign the following:
     - Fitness Room Membership (423 KB, pdf)
     - PAR-Q Form (415 KB, pdf) 
     - Waiver (40 KB, pdf)
  • Documentation to verify sponsorship eligibility: drivers license with same address as sponsor, school ID or birth certificate for a child.
  • Sponsored family members must be accompanied by their sponsor member at all times when using fitness room.
  Alumni and Retired Faculty/Staff
   

Membership Cost

$65 per semester, and a one-time $10 administration fee

Eligibility

Retired UHCL faculty/staff and Lifetime members of the UHCL Alumni Organization.

Requirements

  • Alumni memberships may be limited depending on current fitness room usage.

Locker Rooms

Locker rooms are available for showering and changing.

Lockers

Lockers are provided by the campus recreation for both men and women. You are requested to get your own lock as locks are not provided.

  • Unreserved lockers for day use are available
    • Cost: Free
    • Locks left on day use lockers are cut off at the end of each working day.
  • Reserved lockers are available to rent on a first come, first serve basis.
    • Cost: $10/semester or $30/year
    • No refunds are given.
    • Lockers rented by semester must be renewed by the first week of each semester.
  • In case of locker cleaning, signage will be posted around the facility to notify when locker cleanings will occur. Any contents remaining in lockers are discarded 30 days after locker cleanings.

  • Neither UHCL nor Campus Recreation is responsible for locker contents.
