At University of Houston-Clear Lake, we believe that health and wellness are essential elements of your academic success. That’s why we have a range of health resources available on campus to ensure all Hawks — whether they’re students, faculty or staff — achieve optimal physical and emotional health so they can ascend and soar.
Campus Recreation and Wellness will be the campus leader in recreational activities, fitness and wellness programming, and student social engagement for the UHCL community. It's also the largest student employer on campus with opportunities to work with the facility, fitness and wellness, recreational sports, member services, and marketing areas. Registered students pay a dedicated student fee for access to the current facility (Fitness Room in SSCB) and programming. Starting August of 2018, they will have access to the new Campus Recreation and Wellness Center (CRWC) and programming with a new membership fee. Non-student memberships are available to faculty, staff, retirees of UHCL, alumni, spouses, and dependents of UHCL members. The department also oversees the outdoor recreation spaces like Delta Field, basketball courts, tennis courts, and new spaces coming as part of the facility project. Programming for the department includes intramural sports (individual, dual and team sports), sport clubs (student organizations based in sport), group fitness classes, personal training, open recreation, and more!
The current Fitness Room is located on the second floor of the SSCB and is roughly 3,200 square feet with ~45 pieces of cardio and strength equipment. The new CRWC is ~82,000 square feet and will have 150+ pieces of new cardio and strength equipment, two hardwood basketball courts, one multi-activity court, 1/8 mile indoor track, updated locker rooms, welcome center where patrons can check out recreation and fitness equipment, two multi-purpose rooms, a large lobby area, and outdoor spaces.
