One of the main roles of the Office of Student Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is to not only educate and expose students to the diverse identities they may interact with during their time as students, but also prepare them for an increasingly-globalized professional world outside of UHCL. In today’s professional atmospheres, cross-cultural diversity is becoming more and more prevalent.
It is of great importance that our students understand the complexity of this diversity in order to effectively promote inclusion and equity in a variety of contexts. For this reason, we offer trainings for student development that we believe expand on the common understanding and foundation of diversity work.
Participants of our trainings not only learn how to respect and celebrate cultural differences, they will also be able to identify the values that are important in supporting these cultural differences. These trainings are available to students free of cost and serve as great opportunities to enhance one’s resume during their time as a UHCL student.
