Dr. Durand is a professor of management at University of Houston-Clear Lake. He formerly served at UCLA, the University of Missouri, the University of Colorado, Safeway Foods, and as an aide both to the Surgeon General of the U.S. Public Health Service and to the White House Domestic Policy Council. The recipient of more than twenty (20) grants, one of which was awarded in White House ceremonies by the Vice President of the United States, his research led the World Health Organization to adopt new water standards. In addition to his grants, his work has led to community service awards from the United Way of America and from the Society of Consumer Affairs Professionals (Houston Chapter). He has also been a Piper Award finalist at UH-Clear Lake for Outstanding University Teaching. His research has appeared in a variety of professional publications including the American Journal of Public Health, Public Opinion Quarterly, The Journal of Mathematical Sociology, The Social Science Quarterly, and The International Journal of Organizational Analysis.
