Juried by Clint Willour, curator of the Galveston Arts Center, the "2016 UHCL Bachelor
of Fine Arts Exhibition" featured work in a variety of media by graduating seniors
and those BFA students who finished up their studies in December. During the opening
reception on Thursday, April 14, Willour awarded cash prizes with funds provided by
the UHCL Alumni Association. The award winners were Megan Cash (first place), for
her body of work; Sarah Melville (second place), for her artwork “Reverting Thoughts”;
and Chelsea Yarberry (third place), for her artwork “Connected”. There were six Honorable
Mentions: Monica Chhay, for her artwork “Setting Sun”; David Gonzalez, for his artwork
“Your Move”; Christie Green, for her artwork “Make Your Way”; Austrebertha Kalantaridis,
for her artwork “Untitled Mystery”; Laura Fenn, for her artwork “Mr. Potato Head”;
and Nick Oberholtzer, for his artwork “Pangea”.
This exhibition was generously funded by Lunar Rendezvous Festival and the UHCL Alumni Association. In-kind support for the opening reception was provided by Saint Arnold Brewing Company.
