Your Master Reading Teacher Certificate from University of Houston-Clear Lake's College of Education enables you to work in literacy education at the elementary, intermediate, or high school level. As a Master Reading Teacher, you’ll become a valuable resource to students, their parents, and other teachers. You could be involved in conducting reading assessments at your school and be able to evaluate the results to add valuable input to your school’s reading program. You’ll also be able to incorporate state’s content requirements and performance standards into the school’s reading instruction so that all students’ needs are addressed, including those with reading or learning disabilities or second-language learners.

A Master Teacher certificate added to an existing Texas teaching certificate designates the educator as having mastery of a particular subject area. It is the intent that the master teacher will serve as a resource to fellow teachers.
