UHCL Campus Community:
As UHCL's Strategic Planning Leadership Team, we have made significant progress in
our strategic planning process over the last few months. We recently engaged in a series of meetings and workshops,
which has given faculty, staff, students and alumni a clearer understanding of the
purpose, proposed changes and intended results of this process.
Between June and September, the Strategic Management Team and Theme Teams participated
in two-day workshops to crystallize our mission, vision and values; outline our competition
analysis; and formalize value propositions. After reviewing comments from the various
Strategic Themes and Great Idea Forums, these groups were able to synthesize feedback
from the various voices across the campus and refine our initial strategic themes:
- Educational Achievement
- Inclusive Culture
- Innovation Partners
- University Identity
The Strategic Management Team reconvened on Oct. 3rd and 4th to review the work of
the Theme Teams. Those notes will be moved to our next working group, the Objective
Owners, in early November. The Objective Owners will begin the process of creating
metrics for both strategic objectives and their initiatives.
We recently learned that our mission, vision and values have officially been approved by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, which
is the final step in that respective approval process. We are progressing in the right
direction to ensure that UHCL has a solid foundation to propel our university into
a successful future.
Thank you for your continued participation and support.
Sincerely,
Joan Pedro, Ph.D.
Kevin Wooten, Ph.D.
Steven Berberich, Ph.D.
