The Office of Risk Management and Environmental Health and Safety supports University of Houston-Clear Lake in its mission of teaching, research and community service. Our role is to identify potential safety hazards and recommend corrective action to responsible departments to ensure the safety of the university community and to eliminate unnecessary risks. We also act as a liaison with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance. In this capacity, we provide internal expert solutions to issues that assure governing requirements are met.
It's all about you knowing the right thing and doing the right thing every day! All employees are responsible for ensuring compliance with federal and state laws, local rules and regulations, University of Houston System and UHCL policies and procedures. To confirm you're operating in compliance, please reference the Employee Compliance Guide.
Risk Management includes insurance for fire and natural disasters, identification of risks and liabilities, workers compensation, emergency management, and standards of conduct for property, resources, and internal and external contacts.
The safety and well-being of employees and students is an utmost priority at the UHCL. Within the Safety section, you'll find access to chemical Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), various safety manuals, training, food and animal safety guidelines, and more.
Environmental protection is what we do by complying with applicable rules and regulations to minimize and properly manage wastes; put controls in place to prevent spills, stormwater contamination, and air emissions.
