Biography
Erik Reinbergs, Ph.D. is an assistant professor of school psychology and health service
psychology. He is also a licensed psychologist, a licensed specialist in school psychology,
and a nationally certified school psychologist. He earned his doctorate in school
psychology at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He completed an APA-accredited
predoctoral internship at the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District, where
he also completed his postdoctoral fellowship. At Cypress-Fairbanks ISD, he provided
a wide range of psychological services across elementary, middle and high schools,
as well as in specialized educational placements for students with significant emotional/behavioral
needs.
Dr. Reinbergs has significant experience supporting young people with emotional/behavioral
concerns. In addition to providing school psychological services to this population,
he has experience in 1) providing dialectical behavior therapy for clients with suicidal
behavior and non-suicidal self-injurious behaviors, 2) working with survivors of sexual
violence, 3) providing behavioral parent management training, 4) supervising doctoral
students learning evidence-based therapy and assessment practices at the UHCL Psychological
Services Clinic, and 5) providing school-based behavioral consultation at the individual,
classroom and systems levels (PBIS).
Dr. Reinbergs’s work is broadly focused on improving outcomes for young people with
emotional/behavioral concerns across school and clinic settings. His specific interests
include suicide and self-harm, behavioral interventions (e.g., behavioral consultation,
behavioral parent training, clinical behavior therapy, behavioral activation, ACT,
DBT), and improving measurement practices in applied research. Dr. Reinbergs also
has advanced training in single-case research designs.
Dr. Reinbergs anticipates accepting a doctoral student for the combined school/clinical
health service psychology PsyD program for fall 2023.
