Erik Reinbergs, Ph.D. is an assistant professor of school psychology and health service psychology. He is also a licensed psychologist, a licensed specialist in school psychology, and a nationally certified school psychologist. He earned his doctorate in school psychology at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He completed an APA-accredited predoctoral internship at the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District, where he also completed his postdoctoral fellowship. At Cypress-Fairbanks ISD, he provided a wide range of psychological services across elementary, middle and high schools, as well as in specialized educational placements for students with significant emotional/behavioral needs.

Dr. Reinbergs has significant experience supporting young people with emotional/behavioral concerns. In addition to providing school psychological services to this population, he has experience in 1) providing dialectical behavior therapy for clients with suicidal behavior and non-suicidal self-injurious behaviors, 2) working with survivors of sexual violence, 3) providing behavioral parent management training, 4) supervising doctoral students learning evidence-based therapy and assessment practices at the UHCL Psychological Services Clinic, and 5) providing school-based behavioral consultation at the individual, classroom and systems levels (PBIS).

Dr. Reinbergs’s work is broadly focused on improving outcomes for young people with emotional/behavioral concerns across school and clinic settings. His specific interests include suicide and self-harm, behavioral interventions (e.g., behavioral consultation, behavioral parent training, clinical behavior therapy, behavioral activation, ACT, DBT), and improving measurement practices in applied research. Dr. Reinbergs also has advanced training in single-case research designs.

Dr. Reinbergs anticipates accepting a doctoral student for the combined school/clinical health service psychology PsyD program for fall 2023.
