Biography

Amy Lucas, Ph.D., is an associate professor of sociology and women’s studies. She grew up in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and completed her undergraduate degree in sociology at Pennsylvania State University. She earned her master's degree and doctorate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2012.

Dr. Lucas studies the family, in particular romantic relationships and romantic relationship quality. She has published articles in various general sociology and family sociology journals. At UHCL, she teaches family, social stratification, and statistics courses, along with serves as the advisor of Alpha Kappa Delta, the sociology honor society.
