Welcome to Alpha Kappa Delta International Sociology Honor Society

Founded
At the University of Southern California in 1920. The UHCL charter was granted in fall 1995. Admitted to Association of College Honor Societies in 1967. There are more than 490 chapters throughout the world.

Purpose
The name Alpha Kappa Delta implies social research for the purpose of service. It is a non-secret, democratic, international, sociology honor society.

Membership Eligibility
Students classified as undergraduate: Must be an officially declared sociology major or demonstrate a serious interest in sociology within an official program of the host institution. Must be at least a junior (third year) by standards of the host institution. Must have accumulated the equivalent of an overall grade point average of 3.0 on a four-point scale. Must have maintained at least four regular courses in sociology prior to initiation. Barring unusual circumstances, graduate students are eligible for membership in Alpha Kappa Delta.

Status
Alpha Kappa Delta inducts at UH-Clear Lake but is not registered as a UHCL student organization.
