This specialization prepares students in the recognition, evaluation and control of workplace hazards. The curriculum provides a broad academic background in the sciences with emphasis on health and safety applications.

The Bachelor of Science Environmental Science – Safety program is accredited by the Applied Science Commission of ABET.

Graduates of the Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science – Safety program can apply for, and become a Graduate Safety Professional (GSP) from the Board of Certified Safety Professional (BCSP).

UHCL programs in Safety or Industrial Hygiene, at the Bachelors and Masters level, are designated by the Institute for Safety & Health Management (ISHM), so that graduates of these programs can now apply and become Associate Safety & Health Managers (ASHM).
